The Growing Tomorrow’s Leaders Today Academy is a new online leadership development course that was created to address the growing need for world language teacher leaders in Maryland. This Continuing Professional Development course is being offered with support from MFLA, the NECTFL Mead Fellowship program, MSDE and Cecil County Public Schools.
Designed specifically for world language teachers, the goals of the Academy are to investigate, reflect, and refine leadership skills which will result in a better understanding of oneself as an effective teacher leader. Participants will be engaged in a series of interactive modules resulting in the design of a professional learning session that can be delivered to colleagues in their home school, or at a world language conference at the district, state, regional or national level.
Each of the seven modules will be two weeks in duration beginning June 17, 2019 and ending September 23, 2019. An additional week has been included to accommodate summer plans. The initial offering of the Academy will be limited to the first 30 participants who respond to this form: https://forms.gle/KUGUn6NMjXYWMW6C6. And respond they did – the slots were filled in less than 8 hours!
Upon successful completion of the Growing Tomorrow’s Leaders Today Academy, participants will be awarded two MSDE CPD (Continuing Professional Development) credits which may be applied toward recertification.
