Rusty Mumford is a retired educator whose last position was as the MSP Grant Manager for Worcester County Public Schools.  Prior to taking this position, he taught French and Spanish for 30 years in Somerset County Public Schools, being the only world language teacher in the school where he taught.  Rusty is a graduate of Salisbury State College (now Salisbury University), where he learned, from his advisor/mentor Dr. Arlene White, that language learning is equally important as any other area of study and deserves lifelong commitment.  Serving on the MFLA Board is a way for Rusty to continue his commitment to World Languages by helping to affect positive growth in the awareness of language learning in Maryland.  Rusty is very proud to serve as the MFLA president and of the work we have done and continue to do for Maryland language students K-16.  He looks forward to working with the world language leaders who have been elected to serve on the MFLA Board and to developing world language leadership across the state.
